The Gloamrat Who Never Let Go

29 October 2025

Love seeing my art out in wild in you folk space, make my day when I get sent photos of it up!

But today, this one’s an extra bit special... hangs pride of place on wall of real Meri Nabble Nose her self, a good mate of mine!

Some of you’ll know I’ve said before, most of Gloamrat (and a few other character too) come from real folk I’ve known – faces, moments, bits of memory, listening to stories of life round here in the north from friends and family, all stitched together into dark of Harrowden.

The character has been there since near start of when I came up with idea for my gang of ragged feral orphan kids and she turned up as feature in gang near every Gloamrat piece I’ve done since as well as my little stories.

The IRL Meri originally sent this old photo from 80s, soon as I saw it, I thought, that’s her. That’s Meri Nabble Nose! Holdin tight to her toy like she weren’t ever lettin go for no one.

And funny thing is, we were chatting tonight about making this post... she sent this other photo... still has that same toy now, in 2025 – bit worn, but still hangin in there, just like her, just like Gloamrat she became in story, through it all, weathered but unbroken.

Bit Harrowden right there, worn down but never beat... rough weave, strong thread, keep away from bright lights and strong odours...

Proper proud seeing it up there, where it belongs. Cheers Meri
