Just finished The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow this week, and it proper got under my skin, in the best way, its already inspired quite a bit of my artwork while I've been playing. Folk horror done right: eerie, grounded, and quietly unsettling. The voice work, the writing, and that early ‘90s point-and-click aesthetic hit exactly what I was hoping for going in.
I’ve painted this as a sort of goodbye to Thomasina Bateman, to Bewlay, and to that whole bleak, strange journey. A proper little gem of a game. Can’t recommend it enough if you're after a ‘90s-styled, British folk horror adventure.
