(Fall In Love, Not In Line – 2012)
It’s throwback time again, this one goes all the way back to 2012. Spotted someone posting the tee design version of this earlier today and it proper stopped me in my tracks. I always love seeing old pieces resurface, still being shared and distributed, still meaning something to people. Makes all them late nights doing art feel worth it! Love it!
So I’ve dug out one of the original painted versions, two punks holding hands under the crumbling Salford railway arches, facing down a line of riot police in the distance. A bit of tenderness in a charged moment. Mad times, that.
A few years later, think it was 2016 or 2017, I reworked it as a pen-and-ink style tee, with the words “Fall In Love, Not In Line” splashed across it. A little slogan with a bit of bite, I'm sure a few of you still have the tees!
BONUS memory with this one, artist Antony Allen ended up doing an adapted version of the tee design in this wall mural for his skinhead mate in 2021. How cool is that!
